Current is a rapidly growing independent, full‑service accounting and advisory firm that specializes in tax resolution and consulting services. We look for an experienced Enrolled Agent to join our Tax Resolution team. Position Summary The Tax Resolution Specialist (Enrolled Agent) is responsible for managing and resolving IRS and state tax matters on behalf of clients. This role handles tax notices, audits, penalty abatements, and compliance issues from intake through resolution. Essential Functions Analyze IRS and state tax notices, prepare accurate responses, and determine required actions for resolution. Represent clients in correspondence and negotiations with the IRS and state authorities to resolve penalties, notices, and audits. Collect documentation and provide guidance on tax repayment expectations and strategies. Conduct technical research to develop compliant responses and identify resolution opportunities. Identify and apply for penalty abatements, tax relief programs, and settlement options. Maintain accurate records of tax notice responses, resolutions, and client communications. Collaborate with internal departments to support integrated tax resolution strategies. Recommend and implement process improvements for handling tax notices and audit cases. Educate clients on notice triggers and compliance practices to prevent recurring issues. Utilize tax software and digital tools to manage client cases efficiently and compliantly. Competencies Strong ability to analyze and resolve federal and state tax notices. Confident communication and advocacy with tax authorities. Experience preparing documentation and guiding clients through audit processes. Skilled use of authoritative tax research tools. Proven ability to identify and pursue available relief options. Exceptional attention to detail and recordkeeping. Effective teamwork with tax, legal, and financial professionals. Work Environment & Schedule Full‑time, hourly, non‑exempt position. Monday–Friday 8 am – 5 pm schedule with built‑in flexibility. Location & Travel Based in Springfield, MO. No travel required. Required Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field (preferred). Minimum of 2 years of relevant tax experience. Active Enrolled Agent (EA) credential required. Experience with IRS and state tax resolution strongly preferred. Physical Demands The role requires frequent verbal communication and close vision.
